Totems

Totems was my first and only professional game development project. It was conceived to be a high quality third person tactical platform game, running on PC and Xbox360 on an in-house developed next-gen engine called NeoReality. I worked on it for over two years, in a team consisting of a little under 50 people, using the Scrum Agile development methodology.

Marketing and ‘Unique Selling Point’-punchlines aside, the game had a lot of potential and we achieved quite a lot to be proud of, both technically and artistically. I’ll check what I can post without breaching NDA (if that still applies), and present some cool things about Totems and the parts I worked on.

The project died in August 2008, together with all of 10tacle Studios. There are several postmortems online already I think, and I’ll add mine here too. But the whole Totems adventure will undoubtedly stay one of my my most pleasant and rewarding work experiences. Looking back I can only say that I’m proud of what we did there, and proud to have worked alongside some of the best software engineers and artists I’ve ever met. And I had quite a lot of fun fragging people in the
process :) .
